Close up on Fabrics for Flag

The Blue Field I selected was plain with small stars all over it. Because it has such a "solid" feel, the top stitcher (Terry) decided to put stars on it while quilting the stripes. It is beautiful "live". The Red fabric should be in the blue tones. Medium to dark. The Cream fabrics should also be on the blue side (not yellow) and can range from light to dark. No White and No Brown.
As you can see from this close up, there are small patterns on each fabric, which helps add character and dimension to the over all design.

This flag quilt top was completed during my first quilting class. We each brought in selections of cream and red fabrics. Then we cut them into strips, put them in a pile and our instructor sorted them all out into piles. With the variety of colors, the flag actually takes on a waving affect. It was great fun to do, and although it has been a quilt top for a few years, it has finally been quilted and will be bound soon.
